Osteopathy with Babies and Toddlers

Osteopaths complete further training and study in order to treat babies, toddlers and children. Since their bodies are rapidly growing, Osteopaths look at any imbalances or impediments that may hinder, slow or alter growth and function development. This is not only the skeletal system (bones and muscles), it includes the organs, immune system and nervous system.

Our Osteopath Nicola has completed studies overseas and has worked with paediatrics for years as this is her interest area. She treats all ages from newborn to adults and regularly treats throughout pregnancy in order to prepare for birth.

What you might bring your newborn, toddler or child to an Osteopath for:
– Feeding issues (poor latch, failure to gain weight)
– Sleeping issues (unsettled, irritable)
– Excessive crying and seeming uncomfortable
– Digestive complaints (gas, wind, reflux, colic, abnormal bowel motions)
– Musculoskeletal (body) aches and pains
– Postural imbalances
– Movement difficulties
-Trauma, falls, injuries that have occurred (traumatic birth, sporting or play injuries)

What to expect:

– Osteopathic treatment is soft and non- invasive, usually done by cradling the baby or sitting with a toddler. Family members are welcome to attend appointments and are often sent home with exercises, stretches and lifestyle advice.

Our main aim is to help encourage balance in a healthy, happy, developing infant. If you think Osteopathy may benefit your baby or child, call the clinic on 99082844 to book or discuss with one of our paediatric Osteopaths.
