The Osteopaths at Middle Park Osteopathic Clinic will typically see a woman at intervals throughout her whole pregnancy in order to help her body adapt smoothly to the changes that are occurring to her muscles, joints and ligaments as the pregnancy and fetus develops.
An important thing that our practitioners love to help with that many people may not realise is preparation leading up to the labour that in turn delivers your baby.
We feel, and have seen in practice, that there can be immense benefits to having your body worked on for the few weeks leading up to your labour to help your body perform at its best during that time.
The aim of our treatments in the final weeks leading up to your due date is to help your body to move as freely and fluidly as possible with a sense of space and openness in your tissues and pelvis.
Some things we work on are:
Balancing your pelvis which ensures the birth canal has the best position for the baby to pass through.
We reduced tension in the soft tissues of the pelvis which allows more freedom for the baby to move into the pelvis and engage.
We loosen up the movement in both the lower and upper back and take away muscle tension so that you are walking into labour with reduced muscle tension and joint restriction also allowing you to move more freely and with less discomfort to birth your baby naturally.
We also help to reduce tension in the neck to give you the most comfort as possible going into labour and reducing overall body tightness.
Treatment with our qualified and experienced osteopaths may assist you and your baby to move into a natural labour and birth with your body in the best condition to work at its optimum.
Our pregnancy trained Osteopaths are: Georgina Fisher, Kate Locke, Anna Brown, Janine Symington and Gina Tonelly.
